Compassionate Friends

September 17th - November 5th

Whenever we lose someone we are close to and love we encounter the stages of grief and loss. This can be a very difficult and bewildering time in our lives. Whether we have experienced the loss of a parent, child, friend or loved one we can feel very alone and confused. Often what can be needed is simply to know that others are also going through the same thing and experiencing many of the same feelings and emotions. In an effort to assist our parishioners as well as other members of our community Saint Anthony of Padua Parish will host an 8 week presentation for those who have lost a loved one. “Compassionate Friends” is a presentation which will offer resources, conversation, support prayer and assistance. We welcome any parishioners and others who have lost loved ones and who feel they might benefit from this inspired presentation. Sessions will begin on Wednesday September 17, 2014 at 7:00PM and will be held each Wednesday evening in Father Peter Hall (Lower Church) until November 5th at which time we will end with a special Memorial Mass commemorating all of our deceased loved ones.

Memorial Mass for
Departed Loved Ones
Wednesday, November 5th - 7:00pm

Please join us for a special Memorial Mass for all of our departed loved ones on Wednesday November 5th at 7:00PM in church.  If you have lost a loved one within the last year we especially invite you to be present at this All Souls Mass.  All parishioners are invited and encouraged to attend.  A reception will follow in Father Peter Hall.

Separated or Divorced Catholics
Sunday, November 9th - 1:00pm

WHAT CAN SEPARATE US FROM THE LOVE OF GOD?

“Separated or Divorced Catholics” is the topic to be presented by Carmen Noschese, MS, MFT, from the Family Life Office of the Archdiocese of N.Y. on Sunday, November 9th at 1:00pm after the 12:00 noon Mass in Fr. Peter Hall (Lower Church).
For many who have experienced the pain of separation of divorce, or those who know someone or a family member going through difficulty and would like to better understand family relationships, make plans to join us for coffee, donuts and any questions you may have. Let us remember that God offers us the opportunity and grace we need to keep us on the path that gives life. All parishioners are invited!

September 28th - November 6th

“Deep in our hearts, there are truths that cannot be erased, that cannot be completely clouded by ideology, utilitarian calculations, or by our own weaknesses and self delusions.”*  Life is an awesome gift, and every human life is important which is our responsibility, as Catholics, to safeguard, nurture, preserve and protect.  That is why, Cardinal Timothy Dolan is urgently asking for your prayers in the form of a daily rosary, during the next “Forty Days for life” from September 28th to November 6th.  You are asked to pray for those who march for life; to pray for those who witness to the rights of all human beings; and especially ask our Heavenly Father, in the Holy name of Jesus, and through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother, that all women considering abortion may be granted the grace and the fortitude to choose life for their unborn baby and embrace God precious gift of love.  Further, our Parish would also like to create a special “Respect for life Committee,” to foster these on-going efforts in the future.  Subsequently, if you are interested in forming or assisting such a committee, please give your name to Brittney in the Parish Office.  Thank you and God Bless You!

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
Every Wednesday, Starting October 1st
Adoration will resume on Wednesday October 1st from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm and continue every Wednesday through to May. During this time we will also recite the rosary at 2:30 pm and the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3:00 pm.  We are in great need of people, especially in the afternoons, to make and keep a firm commitment for a half hour, or a one hour pledge, so that Our Lord will never be left unattended.  Please register your name with Brittney, in the Parish Office, along with the time you intend to spend in attendance. Subsequently, it is understandable that on some occasions, due to circumstance beyond your control, you may not be able to make your time. For such instances it is imperative that you call Brittney, so that an alternate can be arranged. Likewise, this also means that we are seeking at least two alternates, who would be available on a moment’s notice, to cover in such emergencies.
Thank you, and God Bless you.
