As this strong winter storm approaches I would like to encourage all parishioners as strongly as possible to heed the advice of local authorities and stay home from this evening until it is safe to walk and travel. For this reason, I advise that parishioners do not attempt to walk or drive to morning Mass tomorrow (Tuesday) and even possibly Wednesday depending on conditions. Safety must be our utmost concern. Forecasters are calling for up to 2 feet of snow in some areas with high winds overnight which is likely to create high snow drifts in some areas. S.T.A.R.S. Religious Education Classes for Monday evening and Tuesday evening have been cancelled and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament scheduled for Wednesday has also been cancelled. The Parish Office will likely re-open on Wednesday afternoon at the earliest. Please stay inside and stay safe during this Blizzard of 2015.
This graphic shows the wind impacts in the Northeastern United States.
I took this photo a short time ago on a nearby road. The Blizzard Warning starts at 5 pm today.
This graphic tells what some of the impacts from the blizzard are likely to be over the next 24 to 36 hours.
I have set up this sophisticated meteorological measuring device to try to gauge the actual amount of snow which accumulates here during the storm.
