Thank you Father Peter

Last weekend we celebrated Father Peter’s retirement and his 20 years of service to Saint Anthony of Padua Parish.  Above is the cake which we enjoyed at the dinner reception following in the lower church hall which we renamed in his honor that evening.  I will have a further post with more photos and information on that special occasion early next week when we receive the photos which were taken.

Feast of Saint Anthony
Jun 13th, 2014 by Father Chris

Today we celebrated our parish feast day of Saint Anthony.  This morning following Mass in church we offered our Novena Prayers and blessed the bread and religious articles parishioners had brought to the Mass.  Several hundred candles which were part of our Festa last weekend were still surrounding the statue of Saint Anthony which was placed in the Sanctuary.  We offer all of our parishioner a very happy feast day today and ask the intercession of Saint Anthony for may continued blessings and graces upon each one of you!

Buona Festa!
Jun 13th, 2014 by Father Chris

Parishioners gather together on the front plaza of the church before the Festa Procession last Sunday.

Last weekend we had a magnificent Festa.  This year we celebrated our 45th Annual Festa and for the first time in recent memory we had perfect weather for all three days of the Festa.  We are grateful to God for this gift.

We are also grateful to the hundreds of parishioners who came forward to volunteer their time to help run the booths, games, food and other areas where there was need.  Our Festa Committee once again did a wonderful job bringing all of the details together and we offer our heartfelt thanks for the countless hours of sacrifice spent making our Festa great once again.

We look forward to another great Festa next year!

The wonderful news of today is that Father Pete is en route!  Erialdo and I will soon be on our way to receive him at JFK Airport.  His aircraft is scheduled to touch down just after 3PM Eastern Time.  As you will see from the photos below, his first flight of just over 10 hours duration departed last evening (our time) and arrived safely in London, Heathrow.  After a short layover his flight to New York is now en route and will arrive shortly.  We are eagerly awaiting his arrival and can’t wait to welcome him back to Saint Anthony’s, his home away from home, once again.
